Over the years the Eclipse 500 cockpit has changed. Originally Eclipse Aviation wanted to have an advanced Eclipse 500 flight deck with integrated GPS moving map, weather information, RNAV and WAAS LPV capabilities integrated into one system. When the first Eclipse 500 came off the line the Eclipse 500 cockpit did not have all of the intended features. The original Eclipse 500 cockpit had the Avio series avionics with upgrade capabilities to AvioNG once it was released. Originally the avionics were developed by Avidyne Corporation and the first jets off the line had the Avidyne avionics installed in the cockpit. After problems with getting the avionics to the original intended specifications, Eclipse Aerospace switched to Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc as the provider of the Eclipse 500 avionics on March 5th, 2007. Eclipse 500 flight decks with the AvioNG avionics installed are from Innovative Solutions & Support. Even with the switch to Innovative Solutions & Support, the avionics system in the Eclipse 500 cockpit never reached it's fully attended capabilities while Eclipse Aviation was around. Once Eclipse Aerospace took over the assets of Eclipse Aviation, the Eclipse 500 Cockpit has finally seen the advanced avionics it was supposed to have. On March 30, 2011 Eclipse Aerospace and Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc announced that they have received an Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the FAA for the new Avio Integrated Flight Management System (IFMS) avionics. This system includes everything the original Eclipse 500 cockpit was supposed to have. More details on the AVIO IFMS system is located below the photo.

The Main Components of the Eclipse 500 Flight Deck
The design of the Eclipse 500 cockpit remains the same with side stick controls and FADEC Engine controls. The avionics display of the Eclipse 500 flight deck has also not changed with 2 primary flight displays and one multi-function display in the middle.
Below is some of the details on the avionics system located in the cockpit. Also note that the below specifications are for Eclipse 500s equipped with AvioNG IFMS avionics.
The flight deck has and Integrated FMS which includes the following features:
• Airways and Victor Routes
• Coupled LPV Approach
• Vector to Final
• OBS Mode
• RNP (Auto / Manual)
• Input of Waypoints using keyboard
• Input of Holding Patterns using keyboard
• Parallel Offsets
• Procedure Turns and Holding Patterns, Active Waypoint, Missed Approach, Destination Waypoint Information
• Nearest / On-Route Airports
• Ability to Store up to 99 Flight Plans
Improved Mapping on AvioNG IFMS Eclipse 500s have the following:
