Bombardier CRJ700 NextGen
In May 2007, Bombardier announced that the Bombardier CRJ700 NextGen would be available. The Bombardier CRJ700 NextGen is an upgraded version of the CRJ700 jet. The interior options for the CRJ700 NextGen were upgraded to match the new interiors unveiled for the CRJ1000. Larger overhead bins, windows, new ceiling panels, new walls and LED lighting are the main upgrades. A new design for the CRJ700 NextGen overhead bins allows for 27 percent more capacity, without effecting headroom.
The Bombardier CRJ700 NextGen also has 4 percent less fuel burn and 9 percent lower direct maintenance costs, according to Bombardier. The savings in maintenance costs are due to an increase in "A" checks from 400 to 600 hours, "C" checks from 4,000 to 6,000 hours and increases in other inspections.
The CRJ700 NextGen is basically a refreshing of the original CRJ700.
The Bombardier CRJ700 NextGen is also referred to as the Canadair CRJ700 NextGen, Canadair Regional Jet 700 NextGen and the Bombardier CL-600-2C10 NextGen. Also sometimes the NextGen version is called the Bombardier CRJ700 Next Generation or the Bombardier CRJ700 NG.
