Garuda Indonesia, based at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport near Jakarta, Garuda, is one of the newer operators of the Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen regional jet. On February 15, 2012 at the Singapore Air Show, Garuda Indonesia announced that they were the undisclosed customer on the CRJ1000 order list. They ordered 6 Garuda Indonesia CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft and added options for 18 Garuda Indonesia Bombardier CRJ1000 jets. On June 20, 2012 Nordic Aviation Capital ordered 12 CRJ1000 NextGen jets. These jets were ordered so they could be leased to Garuda Indonesia, adding additional CRJ1000 jets to Garuda Indonesia's fleet. Garuda Indonesia took delivery of their first CRJ1000 aircraft on October 11, 2012 at Bombardier's Mirabel, Québec facility. Based on these orders and options, Garuda Indonesia will operate up to 36 Bombardier CRJ1000 jets. Previously, at the bottom of this page there was a video of the event, with footage of the first Garuda Indonesia CRJ1000 jet.
