Company Expects Delivery of the Aircraft in 2016 and 2017.
Today Alaska Airlines, an Alaska Air Group company, ordered 6 Boeing 737-900ER (extended range) jets from Boeing. Alaska Airlines released the details, however Boeing did not release any information on the orders. The company now has 79 Boeing 737 jets on order. Alaska is expecting 4 737-900ER jets to be delivered in 2016 and 2 in 2017. The airline is also saying that Boeing has expedited their order, so they can start taking deliveries in 2016. The company is planning on replacing all of its Boeing 737-400 fleet with the 737-900ER. Alaska Airlines also announced that 737-900ER jets delivered this year will have the new "Space Bins" from Boeing that hold 48 percent more carry on baggage.
